10,000 Steps Per Day
If you are quite unfit, try a form of exercise that is less weight-bearing (i.e. swimming, walking in water, and cycling) until your fitness increases and walking becomes easier.
The 10,000 steps project was started by the Central Queensland University to increase the “incidental” physical activity in the everyday living of Australians.
10,000 steps is the recommended step goal each day for a healthy adult (may vary for the elderly and children). Use a pedometer to see how many steps you do in your usual day, and then set goals to increase this to 10,000 steps. Buy a pedometer and aim to take 10,000 steps each day.
